six months ago, while I write my thesis, I had a collapse. I was frustrated learned to use a new data visualization software, Cytoscape, and found me at the receiving end of less than the glowing feedback from my supervisor on a design of a chapter of my thesis. My defense were low and the frustration gave stress and finally tears.

Since I started the graduate school, people were divided into two categories in my life: those who understand what a doctoral student is like those who are not. Even after three years, I still have friends who are surprised that I consider my doctoral work work as a full-time job.

I think the act of the doctor will often misunderstood, and we, the academic community, only blame us. Many of us are guilty of the sugar coating of our experiences. We push our love for our selected field and are excited about our research, exciting results and the possibilities we arrive internationally to share them. But we do little to describe the Tieze.

Do our friends and family really understand the constancy with which we are expected to learn new ideas and techniques, process and bring them into practice? That we can explore weeks and plan an experiment for the first time, it will make it through for the first time over several days and are longer for the results, just to realize that the experiment was a failure? As PhD candidate, I invested more in my final study than in any other study I've previously made. Back at my desk and called my mother in tears, she asked me about what I was emphasizing. I sniffed before I shouted dramatically, called, "Everything!"
